NU GUNDAM (AMURO PLAN)

One of the new Gundam concept plans, which was initially concocted by Lieutenant Amuro Ray, ace of the Londo Bell Corps, the new auxiliary unit of the Earth Federation Forces. Since reemerging as a mobile suit pilot during the Gryps Conflict, Amuro had been provided with several different machines. However, being versed enough in mobile suit design to steal a glance at the RX mobile suit during the One Year War, he had been independently learning and creating an environment to come up with a mobile suit optimized for himself. At the same time, his design wasn’t built from scratch. Average figures were calculated based on past Gundam-type data he obtained, and further adjustments were made based on prior experience. The idea for this mobile suit was further updated, then combined with the mobile suits being researched at Anaheim Electronics before blossoming as the seed of his future beloved mobile suit.

DESIGN NOTES:

As a suit in a very delicate position, I was extremely grateful to be entrusted with this request. I put together various elements of Gundam type suits up to Gundam ZZ to make it look as though designed by Amuro and the engineers close to him while including a hint of amateurish imperfection, so it didn’t appear too perfect in design. (Considering the combat style, I prioritized maneuverability). The plans are intended to lead into the Nu, so the base frame is nearly identical to the Narrative, and since the fin funnels aren’t part of the picture at this point in time, it has the appearance of a very orthodox Gundam design. I drew up two colored plans even though the suit only appears in one frame of the manga is because it seemed as though Amuro and the engineers were having a bit of fun while working on this suit.

Note: Gyoubu is referring to how this design is situated in the development tree leading up to the Nu Gundam.
