A battle starts inside and outside the colony. Banagher who chases after Audrey amidst the flames of war, encounters the white mobile suit “Unicorn”. The reformation of man—-when the power of a Newtype awoke, the Unicorn showed its true form.

SUMMARY
【あらすじ】

0096/Sect.1 – Day of the Unicorn (1)

It has been a century since mankind, due to its burgeoning population, was made to emigrate to outer space. The year is UC 0096. With the Principality of Zeon’s effort for spacenoid independence in a war against the Earth Federation government having long ended, the Earth Sphere is experiencing a brief peace. At “Industrial 7,” an engineering colony constructed in the shoal zone, the Garancieres, a camouflaged freighter of the anti-government organization the “Sleeves”, has entered port. Their objective is to acquire “Laplace’s box” from the Vist Foundation, one of the Earth Sphere’s largest zaibatsus entrusted with it. However, Captain Zinnerman and the crew were unaware of a young woman who had stowed away onboard the ship.

It was said that if “Laplace’s box” were released, it would overthrow the Federation government. Cardeas Vist, head of the Vist Foundation was able to hide it, therefore maintaining prosperity. He was witnessing the operations test of the new model mobile weapons, the “Unicorn” in one block of the colony. A weapon whose development proceeded in absolute secrecy for the Earth Federation Forces, it was also a machine equipped with the longstanding desire of Cardeas’ plans of opening the box.

Banagher Links saw the snow white mobile suit by chance. While being raised as an illegitimate child, he was invited by his estranged father upon his mother’s death and given the opportunity to go to Anaheim’s technical school on Industrial 7. Unable to adapt himself to his current lifestyle, his encounter with the Unicorn leaves a vivid impression with him. Meanwhile, the stowaway sneaks out of the ship and heads for the colony builder, instead getting tossed out into the zero gravity belt on accident. Banagher, unexpectedly finding her, ran toward the shipping facilities that had Petit mobile suits in order to save her.

0096/Sect.1 – Day of the Unicorn (2)

With the strong winds of the early morning skies of the colony blowing violently, Banagher manages to rescue the mysterious girl in his Petit mobile suit and makes an emergency landing in a park. When she asks him the way to the colony builder, he refuses. Giving him a cold look, she walks away. After having been questioned by the police, a mysterious woman by the name of Marida appears before Banagher. She is a pursuer sent by Zinnerman. She attacks him, and Banagher ends up caving and tells her where the girl is. Unable to deal with what just happened, Banagher sets off after the stowaway girl.

Meanwhile, the Earth Federation Forces assault ship Nahel Argama was approaching Industrial 7. In order to prevent the opening of “Laplace’s box”, the ship is deployed with the special forces unit known as the “Manhunter Unit” as well as a man named Alberto, a senior exec from Anaheim Electronics. Banagher manages to trap Marida and the pursuit squad who managed to surround the stowaway girl in the colony’s commercial district, adjacent the the industrial sector. In the distance looms the colony builder, Magallanica.

Cardeas Vist: Age 60. Figurehead of the Vist Foundation, a massive organization with a deep pipeline to Anaheim Electronics and the Federaton Forces. Despite being a man in his sixties, he is still quite tall and energetic. He was a former fighter pilot  with the Federation Forces in his younger years. He oversees the “UC Project” which is a part of the “Federation Space Forces Reorganization Plan” that Anaheim Electronics and the Federation Forces conduct under utmost secrecy. However, behind the scenes he is transferring “Laplace’s box”, which is said to hold the future of the Universal Century as well as the fate of the Federation Forces to the Neo Zeon. For that purpose, the Laplace Program is included in the mobile suit RX-0 Unicorn Gundam which is the center of the Anaheim Electronics developed “UC Plan”. He is fatally wounded by Alberto Vist during the skirmish between the Federation Forces and the Sleeves. In his dying act, he entrusts his true son Banagher with the Unicorn Gundam.

Gael Chan: Secretary and Bodyguard of Vist Foundation figurehead Cardeas Vist. He was formerly affiliated with the Earth Federation Forces. He is also in charge of the security management of the “UC Project”. After a stint with an underground organization, he is very knowledgable with insider information of the army and police. He is ordered to destroy the Unicorn Gundam by Cardeas during the battle on Industrial 7, but facility destruction forces him to escape from the colony without arriving at the Unicorn Gundams location. Afterwards, burning with revenge for Cardeas, he targets Marth Vist Carbine and Alberto and approaches the Garencieres. When approaching the Nahel Argama, he temporarily engages Banagher in the Unicorn Gundam and to succeed Cardeas’ intention to Banagher at that time, he teaches him how to fight.

Syam Vist: A member of the terrorist group behind the bombing of the Prime Minister’s official residence of “Laplace” in UC0001. He was born in a small country in the Middle East. He operated a grazing business on a plateau that was ultimately chosen by the Federation as a launchpad for their “Space Immigration Plan.” He was driven off his land as a result. He later became employed for base construction but lost his job when they discovered his father became a separatist and had a hand in an underground organization. After the deed is carried out, his employer betrays them and blows up their craft. Luckily Syam was the only survivor. He discovers “Laplace’s box” amidst the ruined remains of the space station. Using the power of the box he forms the Vist Foundation and has amassed quite a fortune as a result. In UC0096 he is still alive having been sleeping in cryostasis.

Ellen: Alberto’s mother.

Guisto: Vice President of the Colony Public Corporation. Martha Vist Carbine’s uncle.

ANAHEIM ELECTRONICS

Alberto Vist: Age 33. Anaheim Electronics executive. He infiltrates Industrial 7 with the ECOAS squad in order to prevent the deal between the “Sleeves” and the Vist Foundation executives. His appearance is quite sultry due to his corpulence. He displays a bizarre fascination with the Unicorn Gundam and regards Banagher, Daguza and the others as a threat. He seems to have a short-temper and uses violence against Banagher who opposed him for having spoke ill of Cardeas. He is responsible for shooting his father, Cardeas. As it turns out, he is actually Banaghers brother born from a different mother.

Aaron Terzieff: An Anaheim Electronics employee on a business trip to Industrial 7 that was swept up in the battle between the Neo Zeon and the Federation Forces. He participates in the “UC Project” that is a part of the “Federation Space Forces Reorganization Plan” as the individual in charge of armor material division. He was involved in the development of the Unicorn Gundam. He is apprehended by ECOAS while attempting to escape to Magallanica during the attack on the colony.

Martha Vist Carbine: Age 55. Cardeas’ true younger sister. A woman with a somewhat elegant appearance, shoulder length blond hair, tight cheeks and deep eyes that give off a cold magnetism. She is married to the chairman of Anaheim Electronics, Melanie Hue Carbine. She has a sharper mouth than her husband, which makes her a shrewd businesswoman. To the Vist family, it was a rarity to bear a woman of such character. She sends Alberto to Industrial 7 in order to murder Cardeas. She’s an ambitious woman who takes part in the delivery obstruction of “Laplace’s box” and aims at seizing the Vist Foundation as well as taking back the box. She secures the cyber-newtype Marida Cruz and transports her to the Augusta Labs. There, she plans to have her readjusted in order to pilot the second RX-0 unit, the Banshee.

Melanie Hue Carbine

EARTH FEDERATION FORCES LONDO BELL

Bright Noa: Age 36. Famed captain who played an active part in the “Char Rebellion”. He became commander of the Earth Federation Forces Londo Bell in Universal Century 0096. He is ordered by Ronan Marcenas to either secure or destroy “Laplace’s box”. Having been thrust before the Nahel Argama’s predicament, he couldn’t help but agree. And as such, he becomes involved in the conflict concerning the “box” between the Vist Foundation and the Government’s conservation camp. Following the battle of Dakar, Unicorn Gundam unit’s 1 and 2 are kept on the Ra Cailum. He is requested to become an escort ship of the Vist Foundation a la Martha Vist Carbine, but he half refuses this and tries to proceed with things as intended. In his officers quarters he has photographs of all of those lost in battle, among them Amuro Ray. When he meets with Banagher, he tells him of past Gundam pilots and the environments/circumstances they fought in.

Otto Mitas: Age 45. Captain of the Nahel Argama, affiliated with Earth Federation Forces Londo Bell Unit. He didn’t assume the role as captain due to his achievements but rather by seniority. A thin man with no connections he gained popularity from the ship. He frequently makes misguided judgments. In particular, he doesn’t work well with his vice-captain Liam, despite being pushed by her quiet coercion. But, his dignity as a captain is sometimes shown. He could silence the haughty Alberto with one shot. After that, he gradually grows as a ship captain. He’s never without his hat due to his receding hairline. Following the capture of Palau, his ability as captain of a warship improves and he continues to work at the interactions with vice-captain Liam. When entertaining someone in his quarters, he never misses in having black tea.

ANAHEIM ELECTRONICS: Formerly a household electrical appliance manufacturer located in North America. The largest defense contractor in the Earth Sphere, the company has a major contract with the Earth Federation Forces. They continue to grow due to emergency demands due to frequenting wars. They absorbed former Principality of Zeon defense contractor Zeonic. They even deal with anti-Federation organizations. And their reasoning is because every factory has self-supporting accounting systems. Because most of the funds are moved to the moon, they’re also called “tyrants of the moon” and “merchants of death”. The Vist Foundation participates in their management.

【オーガスタ研究所】
AUGUSTA RESEARCH INSTITUTE: North America’s Newtype research institute and a rival to the Far East’s Murasame lab. Newtype research in name only, they conspired with the military, and is a facility that conducts tests on living persons, particularly those of war orphans. By UC0096, minimal operating equipment remains and the facilities are closed.

BUCH CONCERN: Junker. Their chain is developing in the colonies. Their main business lies in debris removal with petit mobile suits. This is the company that Banagher and Takuya work at part time.

GARVEY ENTERPRISES: A solar power generation enterprise. Chairman is Mahdi Garvey. The Garvey solar power station is an interesting concept. Sunlight is collected via an ring-formulated condensation ring and is then converted into electrical power via the circular accumulation tower in the center. Together with the electrical supply system, microwaves are also transmitted to the contract recipients. The massive amount of waste heat from the concentration of light is used for the incineration of hazardous waste at the solid waste disposal facility located on its side.

HOTEL EMPIRE: A hotel along the coastline of Dakar with a commanding view of Ile de Goree. It is the city’s premiere first-class hotel with one hundred and five floors and four thousand guest rooms. Banagher and Zinnemann meet with Mahdi Garvey in one of only five suites on the top floor.

PORT OF DAKAR: Located on the northwestern side of the plateau district, the port of Dakar is the hub of gathering political economy. The entire coast is comprised of harbor facilities, fortified with a gray seawall that stretches until the adjoining Bel-Air industrial zone. Including the artificial wharf that forms the inlet, the entire waterfront is thirty kilometers in length, allowing three hundred or more ships to sail into the harbor on any given day. It isn’t a large harbor but a production and energy supply base for Dakar with a gas complex and steel and chemical factory standing close together. A majority of the water depth is 25 meters, but within the harbor it is around 50 meters due to part of it being dredged. As of UC0096, there was no further development in the business sector.

Following the adoption of a new calendar, the Prime Ministers official residence “Laplace” is destroyed in a tragic terrorist incident. Amidst the wreckage was an item known as the “Laplace Box”, which would be passed down through the generations, its secret curse also heavily guarded through the ages.

【UC0096.04.07】

Secret dealings involving the Earth Federation Forces, Anaheim Electronics, the Vist Foundation and the Sleeves involving a box leads to the accidental outbreak of a battle within the colony of Industrial 7. On the verge of death, Cardeas Vist entrusts engineering student Banagher Links with the Unicorn Gundam. From this point on, he is the only one capable of piloting it.

【UC0096.04.12】

00:25AM – Riddhe, Mineva and some citizens board the Nahal Argama following it’s resupply from the Columbus-class supply vessel Alaska. While enroute to the moon, Riddhe, Mineva, Takuya and Micott attempt to escape the ship following a trap hatched by Riddhe.

15:28PM – The start of Operation Billiard. The first part would begin with ECOAS. Utilizing dummy balloons disguised as debris, two Loto units would infiltrate the Neo Zeon asteroid base of Palau. A covert operative would then install a plastic explosive in the coupling shaft of the asteroid fortress. Meanwhile, Ensign Riddhe would board the Delta Plus and sortie when the Nahal Argama switches to Phase 2. The operation goes off without a hitch, the “billiard” effect of the two asteroid sections hitting one another is a success.

On a private shuttle, “The Empress of the Moon” Martha and Alberto land at the Augusta Lab. There, the second Unicorn unit known as “Banshee” had already completed testing under gravity.

【UC0096.05.01】

06:06AM – After sensing strange noises from the Sea Ghost, Aqua GMs are dispatched to police the Port of Dakar. The Zee Zulu squadron which lied in wait easily sank the mobile suits. With the aid of the Zee Zulu’s, the mobile armor Shamblo slips into the harbor.

06.20AM – The Garancieres takes off and sets course for Dakar, the Federation capital. This location is deemed vital for a third Neo Zeon war.

06:35AM – Banagher talks with one of the mechanics, Tomura, while the Unicorn’s equipment is being inspected. He realizes that he’s playing a fool by inevitably participating in the operation in order to ascertain the contents of the “box”.

06:40AM – The tanker Zeus IX, anchored in the port, is torn apart by a gigantic claw. The tanker quickly explodes and the mobile suit squad policing the harbor gathers by it. The Shamblo appears on the opposite shore. The invading mobile armor destroys a seaside warehouse, the GM squad changes course and pursues it and they’re met by Zee Zulu’s.

07:02AM – Bright Noa of the Ra Cailum receives word of the Dakar attack. Although they were pursuing the Garancieres near Libyan airspace, they change course and head for Dakar at high speed.

07:09AM – An EWAC is launched from the Ra Cailum. Riddhe boards the Delta Plus as well.

07:24AM – Evacuation of the plateau district begins as the Shamblo, thanks to its reflector bits, begins its invincible rampage. Beam and projectile weaponry are deemed ineffective against this monstrosity. The steel monster continues to advance towards an uninhabited field.

08:13AM – The situation in Dakar is relayed to the Garancieres. Coming face to face with the tragic event in the capital, Banagher races off to the bridge.

08:15AM – The Ra Cailum is unable to ascertain the heading of the Shamblo. Riddhe reports to Bright on solo attacks.

08:22AM –  Riddhe approaches the city. The Delta Plus engages the Shamblo together with the garrison forces. In order to prevent any more needless sacrifices of the citizens and refugees who failed to escape, Riddhe takes on the Shamblo alone.

08:40AM – Banagher witnesses the Delta Plus taking on the Shamblo. Banagher also decides to sortie in order to prevent further sacrifices. However, Zinnerman doesn’t allow it, and draws his pistol at Banagher.

08:44AM – The Nigel team splits up into two groups with the Thorton team and approaches Dakar from the southern tip along the Bernard cape. Sensing the Zee Zulu team lying in wait, they commence an attack.

08:46AM – Loni, one of those onboard the Shamblo, also cannot overlook the terrible sight befalling the refugees. She proposes a detour to her father, Mahdi, but he doesn’t acknowledge it.

08:47AM – Zinnerman punches Banagher after a brief altercation.

08:50AM – Banagher announces he’s leaving the Garancieres. Falling towards the city, the NT-D mode is activated due to the anger within him.

08:54AM –  Mahdi is confused by the sudden onslaught by the Unicorn Gundam. Unsure of whether or not Banagher has betrayed them, he orders Loni and the others to destroy the Gundam.

08:55AM – The Delta Plus and Unicorn Gundam link up and form a single battle line.

08:57AM – The Shamblo cannot be stopped. At that time, Loni tried to stand up on the bridge and restrain her father. She puts an end to her fathers madness.

【UC0096.05.03】

A day and a half following the Dakar incident, Ronan Marcenas is made aware of the extent of the destruction. The estimated death toll is around 40,000.

【UC0096.05.08】

00:38AM – The Nahal Argama departs for L1. The Garancieres breaks off and continues orbiting (while hiding).

04:13AM – The Garancieres automatically departs for L3 (Luna II).

12:45PM – Angelo catches up with the Garancieres and discovers that it is unmanned. Immediately following this, the ship self-destructs and sinks. The mothership Carotte and the Tenenbaum belonging to the Tristars (the Jester squad) are sunk.

12:49PM – Following mobile suit recovery, the Rewloola withdraws from the battlefield.

17:57PM – The Tristar’s link up with the General Revil.

19:32PM – The General Revil reaches geosynchronous orbit and heads toward Luna.

22:00PM – The Rewloola approaches perigee passage.

【UC0096.05.09】

With the scars of the incident running deep, Kai Shiden meets with Ronan Marcenas at the Central Assembly Hall. Ronan offers Kai the chance to blow the whistle on the scandal surrounding the “box”, but he refuses.

14:30PM – The Tennyson Fleet communicates with the Rewloola.

14:35PM – The Rewloola communicates with the Tennyson Fleet. Sinanju and Rozen Zulu depart on a booster equipped Shackles.

18:30PM – The Tristar’s depart the General Revil on a booster equipped Shackles at high speed.

19:30PM – The Nahal Argama arrives at L1.

20:00PM – The Tennyson Fleet hails the Rewloola, then quickly heads towards the L1 Junction. The Nahal Argama is occupied by the Neo Zeon.

23:30PM – Based on orders from Full Frontal, the Tennyson Fleet changes course and heads for Industrial 7.

00:07AM – The Rewloola receives orders from Full Frontal to change course.

00:30AM – The General Revil observes the destruction of L1 and changes course for Industrial 7. Tristars are ordered to change course.

05:17AM – The Nahal Argama heads for Industrial 7. The Rewloola heads there at full combat speed.
