DEVELOPMENT HISTORY
Prior to the deployment of mobile suits by the Earth Federation Forces during the One Year War, the Type 61 Main Battle Tank (MBT) dominated the ground as their mainline weapon. As it’s name dictated, it was officially adopted for use after UC0061 and it would take eighteen years until it took a backseat to mobile suits which appeared in UC0079. Records indicate that the tanks were utilized up until UC0087.
The reason that the Type 61 MBT has lasted over the years is simply because a thorough consideration was given to future possibilities with the unit. The ample sizing of the unit allowed for upgrades affording leverage on a global scale. As a result, variants came about even bringing forth on-side refit types. Across the North American continent, the Southeast Asian theater, the Europe front, or even Odessa and Jaburo, this gallant figure wasobserved on every battlefield throughout the entire One Year War.
