IMPORTANT NOTE: The following model variations appeared in Gundam Magazine, which was published by Kodansha. Originally debuting in 1991, the magazine series was recompiled in a complete box set released in 2006 for Comic Bonbon’s 25th anniversary. The mobile suit variation series was presented in the No.5 issue of the comic series. These color variations differ from those seen in B-CLUB’s MS Journal as well as later appearances. The names and specs that appear here differ from subsequent publications like the Gundam Perfect File series or Kadokawa’s Mobile Suit Encyclopedia. KUNIO OKAWARA’S F91 MOBILE SUIT VARIATION

MSV is something that was born from the enjoyable pastime of freely modifying Gundam plastic models. So, considering what I originally started out to do, I tried to devise variations of the new generation of mobile suits for F91. （Kunio Okawara)

Improved shoulder armor with additional apogee motors and improved mobility. It is a powered weapon type equipped with a weapon unit with a quadruple beam gatling gun and missile launcher in place of the VSBR.

ARMAMENTS:

• quadruple beam gatling gun: Four barrels extend outward when firing. The grip is a fixed type that differs from the VSBR.

An enhanced weapons plan designed to utilize the Heavygun, a melee-type mobile suit, as an assault-type mobile suit like the G-Cannon. This was likely due to the response of the leaders of the Federation Forces panicking at the reality that the obsolete Jegan wouldn’t be their fighting force against the Frontier Side invasion by the Crossbone Vanguard. Besides the standard double beam gun, the gun unit on the right arm can also be equipped with a unit with twin anti-aircraft guns.

ARMAMENTS: 

• 9-tube missile pod (surface-to-surface missiles)
• APFDS (Armour-Piercing Fin-stabilized Discarding-Sabot) 4-barrel machine cannon: a miniaturized version of the one mounted on the G-Cannon.
• 2-barrel rail gun (shield type): An electric gun that fires bullets with the Lorentz force due to the interaction between the magnetic field and the currents flowing to the armature.

A type that improves anti-air offense by equipping the G-Cannon with a hybrid system such as twin beam cannons and surface-to-air missiles. The leg hard points are equipped with thruster units with propulsion output of 16,290kg per side, which improves mobility. It would appear there were plans to add not only an intercept role but a Close Air Support (CAS) unit as well.

A variable mobile suit for ground use produced experimentally as part of the next main mobile suit development project from U.C.0100 onward. According to the Federation Forces records, a plan equipping it with this anti-air fire system and a plan equipping it with a beam cannon were submitted at the same time. In the end it is equipped with a long distance cannon with 200mm armor piercing ammo.

• quadruple machine cannon (equipped with anti-air precision targeting system): the G-Cannon’s quadruple machine cannon has been enlarged to a long barrel to extend its range and the anti-air precision targeting system has been replaced in the head.

Among the new generation mobile suits, a plan to operate the Berga Giros, valued as a unit with a high-degree of integrity, as a bomber for attacking ships. For combat in outer space, it’s based on the strong tactical sense of the Crossbone Vanguard to sink the mothership and cut off all supplies before engaging in close combat between mobile suits. It also carries missiles that are intended to destroy satellites.

ARMAMENTS: 

• anti-ship missile pod x 3: a powerful missile that will destroy the bridge with a single shot and force the ship to sink, even Federation Forces ships with retractable bridges.
• ASAT (satellite attack): able to destroy not only military satellites and communication satellites but it can also deal fatal damage to the outer wall of a colony.

An attempt to take the Dahgi Iris from a reconnaissance unit to an AWCS (Airborne Warning Control System) unit with early warning function and command control functions to coordinate movement from the air to allied units. For the operation of the advanced radar system, it seems that a bio computer with similar calculation processing powers as the F91 was installed. Fuel loading capacity was also increased and flight activity range was also drastically extended.

This mobile suit is not designed for the animation setting. However, with regard to the actual combat data of the Gundam F91, what if the Crossbone Vanguard overhauled the Vigna Ghina? Instead of shelf nozzles, they were changed to wing nozzles shaped like the VSBR. Perhaps it is fitting for the pilot to be Dorel Ronah?

BLACK VANGUARD

The Black Vanguard is comprised of 15 units that consist of 1 Berga Giros (Zabine’s Unit), 2 Ebirhu-S, 6 Den’an-Zon and 6 Den’an-Gei. The squadron utilizes specially tuned up mobile suits. The suits are painted purple and a midnight blue that is close to black so they can be distinguished easily from the standard units. The commander of the squadron is Buch Aerodynamics trueborn pilot Zabine Chareux.
