The End of the Universal Century
It was a war that began as a conflict between a group of space immigrants and the people living in the Earth Sphere and is more commonly referred to as the era of mobile suit wars.
This conflict brought humanity to the brink of extinction. Yet, the enormous amounts of material and energy consumption made it impossible to maintain humanity’s social structure, so the war automatically entered into a truce.
This was due to the physical pollution of the Earth and even the Moon’s airspace, which were ravaged by the wars that forced humans to foresee a sense of “despair for mankind” and feel that human extinction was a real possibility.
Simply put, man now shared a situation where they wondered if humanity itself could survive, yet by that time, Earthnoids and Spacenoids had become isolated.
By that time, Earthnoids and Spacenoids became so isolated that they couldn’t even interact with each other.
It was a dark age, symbolized by the phrase “end of the Universal Century,” in which humanity was threatened by extinction. And, there was a time when the Earth and several huge space colonies, destroyed by scarce resources and warfare, were each searching for their own means of survival.
That time also took the equivalent of a century.
