Portrait of a Warrior: Glemmy Toto

At first, Glemmy was only known by the name “Soldier A,” which is when he first appeared in Episode.9 “Judau in Space.” At the time, he was really just a simple and innocent soldier at the mercy of Roux Rouka, but during the second part, I was told that I should give him a name, so I gave him the name Creyue Oye. I wondered whether making it slightly effeminate was okay.

This had happened a lot since the days of Zeta, but at the very next meeting, General Director Tomino said, “It’s a character we can expand upon, so let’s go ahead do that in a bunch of ways.” So, I thought about it for a week and came up with the name “Glemmy Toto.”

Would it be too easy to say “Toto” because I saw the Toto logo when I was taking a bath? The name “Creyue” was a waste of time for what it’s worth, so it was used as the name for one of the Endra team members.

Glemmy had been filled out as a form of Char Aznable in ZZ. If you feel like that character was getting more serious as time went on, please consider that was my plan from the beginning. Glemmy isn’t just a simple subordinate of Haman as he is acting with his own true objective in mind. Just what that true purpose is may be revealed at the end of the story. Initially, there was also the possibility that Char wouldn’t appear in ZZ. In fact, there was a setting (material) that Glemmy might be the last of the Zabi family, and I asked Mr. Kitazume to design him with that in mind. I wonder if he was able to do just that?

In the end, a three-way battle between Glemmy, Haman, and Judau will probably unfold, but I’d like to see him through to the end in style.

(In addition, there is no military rank on Axis)
