The Yulong is a heavy assault space cruiser, an upgraded Argama-class built at the shipyards in Amman on the lunar surface, where most of the Irish-class ships were assembled.
The most notable change was the largely extended keel. With the alterations to the ship’s balance, the engine pods were also changed, with dual-type engines being installed on both sides of the vessel.
As the order had been placed after AEUG strategic headquarters had altered their policy in the war against the Neo Zeon, while several flaws had been discovered within the Argama class vessels, the Yulong was built to be able to form a fleet alongside the Nahel Argama class.
The Yulong was chosen as the flagship for this Side 2 rescue mission, with its crew being selected from the ranks of the AEUG.
The name, Yulong, apparently owed its origins to the name of a white horse appearing in Wu Cheng’en’s “Journey to the West”.
