[BRIEF HISTORY] – RX-95 Valiant Gundam

As I was going over a timeline for Hathaway’s Flash, I stumbled upon a timestamp to an event that I was unfamiliar with. It read:

U.C. 0095: The Federation dispatches a suppression force against the Jupiter Phantom, a terrorist organization active at Jupiter.

So I went digging for information. The relatively bizarre story ran in Comic Bombom from August 1989 until July 1990 but was left unfinished.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Universal Century 0095. With their operation to freeze the Earth ending in failure, the Neo Zeon army assembles their remaining forces in the Jupiter sphere and forms the anti-Federation government organization “Jupiter Phantom.” Meanwhile, having lost their resource supply route to Jupiter, the Earth Federation begins manufacturing the RX-95, a new prototype mobile suit.

In response to the onslaught by the Jupiter Phantom, the Federation manages to identify their home base at Jupiter. They convert a Jupitris-class super-large transport ship into a battleship and set off for the planet. Onboard the ship, manufacturing of the new RX-95 prototype mobile suit, more commonly known as V Gundam, progresses at a rapid pace.

The V Gundam stands for Valiant Gundam, model number JRX-0095-V1. The suit combines both the core fighter system and back weapon system and is equipped with the Valis Unit. The core fighter is known as the Valis Fighter.

With a double-seat cockpit, the super fighter has wings that propel it with solar wind. As the suit is deployed, it is equipped with an anti-beam barrier. Towards the final serialization of this story, we learn that the suit has a simple body with red and white coloring (differing from the lineart provided). The suit apparently hides an amazing transformation system too, but it is never revealed in the next issue as promised.

Certain parallels can be seen with the Victory Gundam several years following this, which begs the question of whether this Bombom original suit was the basis for it or not.
