RGM-79Q GM QUEL
RGM-79Q GM QUEL VARIATIONS
The RGM-79 GM was developed and introduced during the One Year War. It became the Federation Forces’ mainline suit and was known for its numerous variations that were developed throughout the war. That same lineage would continue even after the war ended, with more high-performance mobile suits being produced. The RGM-79N GM Custom was known as one of the particularly high-performance suits among them. Not only did the suit incorporate the technology of the higher-end GM line of suits developed up to that point, but it also reflected technology from the RX-78NT-1 Alex.
The Alex was a mobile suit that adopted magnetic coating and a panoramic monitor and was developed as a dedicated suit for Newtype. Also equipped with Chobham armor with added armor and thrusters, it was a Gundam-type mobile suit that brought together the best Federation Forces tech of the time. Despite not being deployed into actual combat on account of its destruction, its technology would later be inherited by other Federation Forces suits. One such suit was the GM Custom, as mentioned earlier. Like the Alex, the GM Custom is a mobile suit from the Augusta Labs and was completed as an exceedingly high-performance suit reflecting tech from the Alex, mainly seeing deployment with ace pilots.
The RGM-79Q GM Quel was developed by the Titans, who were established after the Delaz Conflict, using Earthnoid engineers. Despite the suit being a variant of the GM Custom, it’s a high-performance mobile suit suitable for elite forces, supporting the Titans’ battle strength early on as it underwent mission-specific upgrades.
RGM-79GM QUEL [ReZeon]
This mobile suit saw operation during the Founding War by the Tristan faction of Titans remnants who traveled to Mars to join ReZeon following their defeat during the Gryps War. Part of its shield is colored red to indicate that it belongs to ReZeon, along with the large emblem emblazoned on it. It is known to have taken part in a “rabbit hunt” by Donald, a Titans remnant suspected in the pipeline accident, as one such example of its post-Foundation War usage. Donald himself was a pilot of an RGM-79N GM Custom during the Delaz Conflict, which erupted in U.C.0083, so he was quite adept at piloting this mobile suit.
As a demonstration by Supreme Commander Alica of her rule over the people, Donald was subjected to this “rabbit hunt,” a sort of lynching where the rules stipulated that if he survived ten minutes in battle with Alice’s Royal Guards led by the Supreme Commander, he would be found innocent. During the battle, he exploits an opening in Diana, the only young boy soldier in the Royal Guard, severing the Kehaar’s link and taking him hostage. However, shortly thereafter, he’s attacked by a funnel launched by Alice’s Re-Hyze, destroying his head. Donald was presumed to have perished at the time. However, he took the medicine he received from an operative by the name of Mizuno beforehand and was revived, immortal, just like the nickname of the unit he once served. Tristan’s faction recovered his abandoned mobile suit, its head was swapped out, and it was then deployed as an Early Hazel for Operation Shining Star.
RGM-79Q GM QUEL [Early HAZEL]
A GM Quel equipped with a dual eye type head developed following testing with the RX-121 Gundam TR-1 [Hazel]. Now equipped with a multi-blade antenna, its search and detection and comms systems have been upgraded. In contrast, its outward appearance had psychological effects such as the intimidation of enemy remnants or inspiring command of allied forces. However, despite being operated as a commander unit of a GM Quel unit, aside from its head, there are no differences between it and the archetype GM Quel.
RGM-79Q GM QUEL
The Titans deployed GM-type mobile suits as their main forces units at the time of their founding. The mobile suit is a suppression mission loadout based on the GM Custom and improved to meet the organization’s primary objective of subduing the Principality of Zeon remnants. Main improvements include new thruster configurations that reduce the overhang of the shoulders and other areas, a more modernized cockpit block, along with the addition of anti-personnel sensors, all taking into account operation in colonies. Aside from these minor changes in the specs, the main parts of the mobile suit, the sections that make up the entire body and the proportions of the suit frame, and the external form are identical. This is partly due to the fact that the GM Quel was developed based on the GM Custom production line, which the Titans absorbed. In addition to a machine gun, it’s also equipped with a beam rifle and other weaponry as its main armaments. In the later stages of the suit’s development, it underwent further modernization and improvements, such as installing a panoramic monitor and upgrading the generator output.
RGM-79Q GM QUEL
This mobile suit saw early deployment for the Titans; the Earth Federation Forces special forces established immediately following the Delaz Conflict. An early production type primarily deployed with the Alexandria-class Al Giza, its arms are the same type as those on the GM Type C, while the legs are the same type as the GM Custom. Furthermore, the shape of the head and other details, like the leg thruster configuration, are different. In the later officially adopted type, the arms were replaced with a new design incorporating new frame tech undergoing development (later known as a movable frame), while the legs were equipped with sensors for anti-personnel suppression, its primary function.
RGM-79N GM CUSTOM
One of the RGM-series mobile suits developed after the One Year War reflects the design of the previous GM-series. Developed at the Augusta Labs, it also incorporates tech from the RX-78NT-1. Despite not having any prominent features, it’s considered a top-of-the-line model among the GM-type mobile suits around U.C.0083. The mobile suit color scheme is green, like that of the later Jegan, though there are various other mobile suits with varying color schemes depending on the unit they’re affiliated with.
RGM-79Q GM QUEL [E.S.F.F]
This model was deployed to the garrison units stationed in the Confeito area and other teams during the Gryps War and saw use by forces incorporated into the Titans from the Federation Forces. In order to differentiate it from regular forces, it was painted in a red and white color scheme, typical colors of the Federation Forces’ mainstay RGM-79 GM suits.
RGM-79Q GM QUEL [Chobham Armor]
A GM Quel equipped with Chobham Armor. The additional equipment is identical to the type used on the Alex but is limited to just the torso and waist to reduce the decline in mobility. This equipment was a reflection of the data obtained through testing by the T3 unit and was useful against mobile suits of the Zeon remnants like the Zaku and Dom, whose primary weaponry utilized solid projectile ammunition.
RGM-79N GM CUSTOM [TITANS]
This suit was operated on a temporary basis immediately following the formation of the Titans until the GM Quel was deployed. It’s painted with a dark gray color scheme symbolic of the Titans. As the organization was established immediately following the Delaz Conflict, with the GM Quel being deployed only about two months later, its deployment and operation period is said to have been exceedingly short, so the number of forces that used it was limited.
RGM-79N GM CUSTOM [A.E.U.G]
The AEUG used this mobile suit during the Gryps War, and there were also units with green and white color schemes that followed the RGM-79 GM II. Despite being rendered obsolete when it was introduced, it was still utilized as a valuable mobile suit fighting force for the AEUG.
