“1.4 x 10²⁹ ergs.” This is the estimated energy required to push the trillion-ton+ mass of the asteroid fortress Axis, moments from colliding with Earth, back into a trajectory away from the planet at a velocity of approximately 12 km/s. If one were to convert this into the energy of a megaton-level thermonuclear explosion, it would be equivalent to three million times that magnitude. Hence, this phenomenon came to be known later as the “Axis Shock.” It can be considered the first and largest event manifested by the psycho-field in the history of the Universal Century. Recognizing the severity of the situation, the Earth Federation Forces leadership found themselves compelled to ostensibly cease research and development on psycho-frames.

Manifestations of the Psycho-Field

◆ Aboard the massive Garuda-class transport aircraft, the Unicorn and Banshee confront one another in Destroy Mode. Buffeted by the collision of psycho-fields emanating from the dueling mobile suits, the Garuda could no longer sustain flight in the stratosphere, leading to its eventual tailspin and crash.

◆ To rescue the disguised cargo ship Garencieres, struggling to exit the atmosphere, the Nahel Argama descends from low orbit using a ballute system. The Unicorn in Destroy Mode, physically connecting the two ships, withstood loads far beyond its physical structural limits.

◆ A psycho-field neutralizing a colossal laser beam six kilometers in diameter. A resonating phenomenon brought forth by the Unicorn and Banshee.

◆ The confrontation between the Unicorn and the Shamblo mobile armor. Though on a smaller scale, the shockwaves from the psycho-field arising between the two engaged mobile suits scoured the residential areas around Torrington base.

The Psycho-Field: An Unforeseen Physical Phenomenon in Psycho-Frame Applications

This discussion delves into the psycho-field, frequently emerging in the resonant excitation state of psycho-frames and notably responsible for the historic and unprecedented “Axis Shock.” During the early stages of psycommu development, empathic phenomena among Newtype potentials during combat were sporadically observed, enhancing with the amplification of psycho-waves, eventually leading to control over other machines’ psycommu systems. However, the psycho-field phenomena arising in combat scenarios involving multiple psycho-frame-equipped units remain unexplored. Unraveling this could bring us closer to understanding the true essence of Newtypes.

● So, what is the essence of a true Newtype?

The state a true Newtype is presumed to reach is hinted at during the first Newtype encounter in the One Year War, with Ensign Lalah Sune of the Principality of Zeon’s last words: “Ah, I can see time…”

Interpreted literally, this suggests a vision from a higher dimension where the “time dimension” is visible. While we, existing in the real dimension, perceive three dimensions of action and movement and an irreversible time dimension, the phrase “I can see time” implies a ‘sublimation’ where even the time dimension becomes actionable and movable. During the empathic phenomena, as the boundaries between self and others merge, deepening understanding, this might eventually lead to an amalgamation into a higher-dimensional existence, a “composite intellect” capable of interacting with the real dimension. This higher-dimensional “composite intellect” is postulated to be the true identity of a Newtype.

● What does interference from higher-dimensional “composite intellect” in the real dimension entail?

If we were to scientifically address higher dimensions, a quantum-theoretical approach is inevitable. At the inception of the universe, eleven dimensions existed, but currently, we only experience four: three of space and one of time. The remaining “extra dimensions” are compressed into subatomic sizes. If we understand this even slightly, as soon as we go from a quantum mechanical existence to a size that relativity can handle, immense energy is released from the degenerate mass upon even a slight unraveling, illustrating a physical interaction from a higher dimension into our reality.

Perhaps the highly functional metallic material of the psycho-frame was the optimal state for mediating the physical permeation effect from higher dimensions to reality. If insufficient psycho-frames are present in the real dimension, crystalline psycho-shards from adjacent dimensions might materialize to provide the necessary mass, disappearing once the permeation effect concludes.

There’s a theory that the “Axis Shock” was not merely caused by two psycho-frame-equipped units but was a resonant excitation phenomenon by the collective unconscious of all life desiring to avert Earth’s destruction. While the trigger was indeed those two units, this challenges the notion that it wasn’t an interference action by the higher-dimensional existence, the “composite intellect,” reached by Newtypes through empathy.

If the will of all humanity, or the collective unconscious of all life, could be converted into energy, it might possess enough force to move a planet. Therefore, even those who have not yet reached a higher-dimensional existence might have the potential to become true Newtypes if their will is sufficiently powerful. This suggests a momentary “miracle,” indicating that with the manifestation of willpower, one might ascend to a higher-dimensional existence, potentially becoming a true Newtype. While this is more of a speculative or visionary idea rather than a solid theory or argument, it represents an “endless dream” of what might be possible.

● The True Nature of Psycho-Field Manifestations Remains a Mystery

Despite layering conjecture upon conjecture in this discussion, the true causative factors behind psycho-field manifestations in the Universal Century remain unresolved at present, with key aspects likely remaining a mystery. What precisely instigates the physical phenomenon of psycho-field emergence in the resonant state of psycho-frames?
