Following the first Neo Zeon War which broke out in U.C. 0088, the asteroid base Axis, which had been the stronghold of the Neo Zeon forces, was placed under the control of the Federation government. At this point, several Doven Wolf units, which remained there as reserve fighting strength, were captured. These were transferred to Anaheim Electronics’s Granada factory for technical research into the so-called quasi-psycommu system, a psycommu system which could be used even by ordinary soldiers who weren’t Newtypes.
The Doven Wolf was a unit with a complicated history. Originally completed by Loren Nakamoto, an Earth Federation Forces researcher and authority in quasi-psycommu research who defected to Neo Zeon. As a result, the team responsible for analyzing and improving this machine included many engineers from the Augusta research institute, to which Doctor Nakamoto had belonged before his defection.
Eliminating the direct connection-type weaponry as well as the abdomen’s mega particle cannon, the resulting refinement of fire power resulted in a unit that was more efficient than expected. Following tests of the quasi-psycommu several units were delivered to the Vist Foundation. They were then utilized in mock battles against the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam for its final testing.
