Vol.21-B Sand Angler-class Subterranean Carrier

The Sand Angler-class subterranean vessel, with three confirmed units, serves as the mobile base for the Chester Fleet – a remnant force of the Mars Independent Zeon Forces (Zeon Mars). Manufactured in Martian facilities based on the Mad Angler-class submarine carrier design, these vessels essentially embodied the state itself for the territorial-displaced forces following their defeat by Re-Zeon.

The massive battleship operated by Neo Zeon during the Char’s Rebellion incident, constructed as the organization’s flagship. Its distinctive bilateral heat radiation panels mounted mid-ship directly influenced the Sand Angler’s expandable structural design.

The Sand Angler, powered by Minovsky Craft propulsion systems, represents a terrestrial warship whose fundamental design philosophy would later influence vessels like the Adrastea-class.

The Sand Angler serves as a formidable mobile weapon carrier, capable of accommodating over twenty mobile suits plus one large-scale mobile armor. Its revolutionary design features an expandable hull that can extend or contract longitudinally to adjust its mobile suit capacity. This unique structural flexibility is centered in the vessel’s mid-section.

A variant of terrestrial warship operated by Zeon Mars. Twin Minovstorm Units mounted on both sides enable subterranean navigation by generating artificial sandstorms. With Re-Zeon’s orbital surveillance network enforcing a strict no-fly zone over Mars, surface operations became virtually impossible. To evade this surveillance web, Zeon Mars continues their guerrilla campaign against Re-Zeon from these vessels, their namesake inspired by the deep-sea anglerfish, operating from beneath the Martian surface.

Originally developed as one variant of the Earth Federation Forces’ next-generation submarine fleet, these vessels were captured during the Principality of Zeon’s Earth invasion operations and incorporated into their naval forces. Initially constructed as missile attack submarines, the Principality removed these systems in favor of expanded mobile suit/mobile armor hangars. This transformation into submarine carriers made them integral to Zeon’s maritime operations. While confirmed to carry one mobile armor, five mobile suit units, and reconnaissance craft, exact capacity specifications remain uncertain.
