The Theta Plus is a flagship unit, a culmination of the Theta Project, redesigned by combining the 090, 010, 013 types, and even the FA models. Through the use of the movable frame structure, units can be switched out according to the current battle situation. This allows it to achieve both higher specs and maintainability compared to the ZZ-GR. The various forms can perform anything from mid-range support to solo operation, forced reconnaissance to base capture.
DESIGN COMMENTARY
As the serialization began, a brainstorming session was held with the editorial department, and the Theta Plus was one of the MS which emerged as a result of this conversation. It was a very simple idea, We now have Zeta and Delta, so having a redesign of the ZZ (known as Theta in development) doesn’t seem out of place for the times.. However, while considering things such as, “there is no way that Anaheim lets the operational data from the ZZ and FAZZ go to waste,” “it is like they have forced a new model through production and are now forcing the Federation to buy it,” or “it doesn’t matter if the cost is a somewhat expensive, if it’s a support unit, not many will be lost, so the burden on-site will be lessened as well,” it was designed in accordance with the development genealogy of units such as the Rezel, which were poised to make the transition to the next era. The G-Fortress, with its long nose and forward wings, is truly in the world of hobbies. It is shown being operated alongside the GM III, but pairing it with another transformable unit, like the Zeta Plus, and having it burst out onto the battlefield, or having its allies take down the enemy while it fires its support cannon from an advantageous position, imagining these gorgeous TMS scenes personally gets me really excited.
A long-range beam weaponry boasting an output of 79.8Mw as the maximum firepower descending from the mega beam launcher. Improved upon from the conventional model, it adopts part of the mechanisms of the beam smart gun. Equipped with a disk radome, it seems to improve hit accuracy when working together.
Flight mode of the Theta Plus. Packed with heavy firepower and high thrust inherited from the original unit and mobility on par with the Waverider. With the hyper mega cannon in the nose, it’s possible to use it like the Mega Rider. Worthy of the name G-Fortress, a wide variety of weapons were loaded on to it giving it the strength equal to that of a squadron.
On either side of the backpack, two beam cannons that make use of the Defenser Unit have been added. The body of the backpack is equipped with a micro missile launcher with 21 AMA-13S missiles, which is used as a countermeasure against suits with i-Fields. It boasts the largest overall output of the backpack thrusters of the Theta series.
