RMS-119 EWAC ZACK

With the discovery of the ECM effects of Minovsky particles, the value of radar weaponry immediately plummeted. However, Minovsky particles were far from perfect and so ships and mobile suits are still equipped with radar in conjunction with laser sensors and infrared sensors. The downfall of these particles is that when they’re scattered their effect drastically decreases and they have to be frequently dispursed again. As a result, particle concentration was uneven during wartime and the frequency of use of radar was relatively high.

The EWAC Zack is a remodeled RMS-106 for reconnaissance with an emphasis placed on electronic warfare. The radome integrated with the head is a large-scale passive radar system which precisely detects radar waves emitted from the enemy from long range. In addition, the dome’s underside is equipped with a monoeye for ground monitoring which also allows for optical photography from high altitudes. It is also possible to scan using laser or infrared rays. Aside from the radar, other sensors have been reinforced and its effective radius under Minovsky particles is more than twice that of other models.

The intel obtained by reconnaissance is transmitted from the directional antenna equipped on the backpack but in the instance that Minovsky particle concentrations are too thick that render communication impossible, it is recorded in the data pods and released. The data pods continue to transmit an identification code on a special frequency for allied recovery but in instances where it is collected by the enemy, it is designed so that the data cannot be obtained unless a decryption code is entered. Because it is designed exclusively for reconnaissance, it is completely unsuitable for battle but it can be equipped with weaponry from the RMS-106 Hi-Zack.

As a Federation Forces machine, the EWAC Zack’s development base was at Luna II unlike the Hi-Zack that was developed at Granada. Despite this, numerous units fell into the hands of the enemy over time. A captured unit belonging to the Sleeves was deployed around the natural resource satellite Palau during the Laplace conflict. It is ultimately destroyed by the Nahal Argama’s hyper mega cannon during Operation Billiard. In terms of color schemes, the Neo Zeon utilize gray (as well as blue utilized by the Blue Force) while the Titans paint their units the same color green as the Hi-Zack.

The radome is equipped with a passive radar system, various detectors and a data system that brings together the intel. When operating at maximum resolution, it narrows down the waste heat of the suit to a minimum. Depending on the situation, the inner disk unit physically rotates to scan its entire surroundings. Because the radome is connected to the backpack, the suit is unable to move its head. The bottom part is equipped with a mono eye for rear/ground monitoring.

An active laser sensor unit with the range of a spacecraft class. It is possible to utilize it in tandem with the optical sensor at the top of the head.

It creates a linkage system which supplements multiple frequency bands as well as substitutes for the head’s blade antenna in outer space. It functions as a ground sensor when under gravity.

It is ordinarily equipped with a large-capacity propellant tank located where the sub sensor and the heat sink are mounted on the Hi-Zack. In many cases, it is tasked with super long-distance travel alone so it carries a large amount of propellant in order to be able to infiltrate into hostile patrol ranges and subsequently breakaway at high speeds.

The units themselves are reused from those on the Hi-Zack but the combustion chambers and gimbals of the vernier thrusters have been strengthened.

Utilized for sending information collected and recorded to allies when data transmission is difficult or impossible. Numerous data breach prevention measures are taken both physically and electronically by transmitting an identification code.

The circular object is a radome unit that is utilized as an antenna for communications. It exhibits strong directionality and it is used to transmit intel gained through reconnaissance/patrol activities. The unit on the left side is a rear seeker for rear monitoring.

The basic structure is almost identical to the Zaku machine gun made by the Principality of Zeon only in this model, the the optical system’s sensors were adjusted to Federation Forces standards. Nonetheless, its accuracy improved compared to those made by the Principality.

Ordinarily, the cockpit is the same as the Hi-Zack. However for the Sleeves captured unit deployed at the resource satellite Palau, the cockpit was replaced with Neo Zeon’s standard one.

In addition to utilizing the Zaku machine gun custom much like the Hi-Zack does, it also adopts the same shield, only with the Federation insignia being replaced with the Neo Zeon one.
