GUNDAM HEADS TO A NEW WORLD…

Our talking point corner covers “Mobile Suit Gundam F91”, a new theatrical movie. Work on this blockbuster is progressing smoothly with its debut slated for next spring. This time, a featured teaser was screened at Sochiku Cinemas nationwide! So let’s have a detailed analysis with a particular focus on the two mobile suit clash scenes! Witness F91 in motion for yourself!

The official title of the new theatrical Gundam movie debuting next spring was decided. “Mobile Suit Gundam F91.” A teaser was screened with the movie “Crisis 2050” which opened during summer break.

Our hero Seabook and Cecily are intertwined and race across the cosmos. Could it be signs of a Newtype encounter? Two mobile suits clash. An eerie iron mask floats in space. And finally, a full shot of the Gundam… could it be the F91?!

Both an English and Japanese version of this teaser have been produced, and it’s interesting to note that the English pronunciation is “Gundam Formula Ninety-One.”

Mr. Shuko Murase is in charge of animation direction.

Consider this a prologue to hype up the expectations for the theatrical movie even more.

ADVENT OF A NEW ERA
From F-90 to F-91

The F-91 movie has finally been set in motion.

Since the 1979 TV series, Gundam sagas were always state-of-the-art, and one of its eras came to a close in 1989 with Char’s Counterattack.

However, as we enter into the 90s, the curtain rises on a new story. F-90 was designed as a culmination of ten years of Gundam. And now there is the F-91 movie which is said to be a completely new concept for Gundam. In order to master the origin of Gundam’s theme, the original staff of Yoshiyuki Tomino, Yasuhiko Yoshikazu and Kunio Okawara were brought together. So, just what is it about?

GUNDAM F91 MSV COLLECTION

Digging into my collection of older material yet again, these Gundam F91 model variations appeared in Gundam Magazine, which was published by Kodansha. Originally debuting in 1991, the magazine series was recompiled in a complete box set released in 2006 for Comic Bonbon’s 25th anniversary. The mobile suit variation series was presented in the No.5 issue of the comic series. These color variations differ from those seen in B-CLUB’s MS Journal as well as later appearances. The names and specs that appear here differ from subsequent publications like the Gundam Perfect File series or Kadokawa’s Mobile Suit Encyclopedia. Information has been translated as it appears on the pages.

INTRODUCING NEW MSV HANDBOOK U.C.0153 ①

Hi gang!

It has been a while since I released anything, and that’s because I’ve been working behind the scenes on something new! Most of you remember some of the pics I took of the various Gundam hauls I’ve made, so I decided to dive in and work on some information that hasn’t been seen anywhere, honestly. Neither MAHQ nor the Wiki have info on the stuff from the elusive V-MSV material! So, without further delay, check out the complete translation of the first handbook here.

There’s liable to be a bunch of errors as I haven’t seen Victory Gundam in more than a decade so I apologize. But, the suit information is the highlight! The second installment is currently in transit so I should get that soon. I’ll eventually go back and do some of the other ones (the original MSV as well as the Silhouette Formula one too). More manga when I get a break!

Originally released in November of 1993 by Bandai’s Hobby Department, this is the first of two booklets dealing with alternative variations on several of the suits from the series.

GUNDAM NARRATIVE & PHOENIX HUNTING

With the announcement of Gundam Narrative having come to pass, I thought I’d like to remind fans that we have a database section for the novel that the series was based on available on the site. You can view the novel section here. I’ve added a relatively detailed summary on the page for the first part of the novel so fans can know what to expect from the upcoming movie that it’ll loosely be based on. The Gundam Narrative section can be viewed here. I’ll have the second half of the story up shortly.

Tyrant Sword of Neofalia Update

SCENE.2 of Tyrant Sword of Neofalia is available on the series page! Details on the RS-NF-81-STI-SES Improved Nemo Sword, Improved Nemo Sword Proto 3 (aka Slave Sword) and RS-81-STI Nemo will all be uploaded sometime tomorrow!

Gundam the Origin Updates

A small batch of updates today since I received my copy of the Gundam the Origin Character and Mechanical Works book (Volume 1):

For new pages, I’ve added the Arcana-class Space Passenger Ship and the Large Civilian Spaceship Lunar Line. The Papua-class has been updated with color lineart as well as lineart exposition for the hangar deck. More coming soon!

Introducing Tyrant Sword

Today I am proud to begin introducing yet another groundbreaking entry of translated Gundam material. For many years I have been interested in the fabled “Tyrant Sword of Neofalia” series since first learning about it. Unfortunately, information was almost non-existent for it and I forgot about it. On a whim, I found an old issue of Hobby Japan and managed to read through one of the random chapters. That was tossed aside since I was a bit disappointed in the length of the photonovel. At any rate, during my recent buying fest of old material, I managed to snag the first couple installments and am now only missing the third for this series. So, without further delay, here’s the database entry for the series! The first scene has been translated as well as the accompany mechanical entry for the Improved GM II are included on the page! Stay tuned for more updates! 😀
